3 Easy Home-Made Dog Treats

Have you ever been baking and feel bad that your dog couldn’t eat what you were making? Well, here are some recipes that you can make at home for your dog! Today, we are talking about three easy recipes that your pet will love. We have Sweet Potato Fries, Banana Ice Cream, and Peanut Butter Cookies! These recipes are easy to follow and fun to make!

Sweet Potato Fries

For this recipe you will need the following:

  • 1 Sweet Potato
  • 1 tbsp melted Coconut oil
  • Spices – Turmeric and Cinnamon

To start things off, we are going to preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. While your oven is preheating, you can wash and peel your sweet potato. After you have done so, it’s time to cut it up. You are going to want some nice evenly-sized pieces. For best results, try to cut them long and skinny, just like a French fry! Once you have them chopped, place them into a zip lock bag or large bowl with your spices and the coconut oil. Mix them the best you can. Have some fun with it, shake the bag like a maraca! Now that your fries are spiced up and ready to go, it’s time to get them in the oven. Spread the fries out evenly on a baking sheet. By now, your oven should be hot and ready! Bake for 15 minutes, then flip over the fries and bake for another 10-15 min. Always make sure that they are cooled before giving to your dog!

Banana Ice Cream

For this recipe you will need the following:

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • Food processor or blender

This recipe is straightforward to make! You are going to take your ripe bananas and pop them in the food processor or blender and blend. You can stop and scrape the sides down and blend until smooth. This should take about 3-5 minutes. Once the bananas are nice and smooth, you can scoop it right into a bowl and enjoy it like soft serve. Feel free to chop up some extra dog-friendly fruit like strawberries and add to your newly blended ice cream. When adding extra fruit, make sure you are avoiding things like grapes, as they are toxic for dogs. You could also use a few tablespoons of dog-friendly peanut butter. Please be very careful when buying peanut butter; make sure you read the ingredients.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING WITH XYLITOL!

Peanut Butter Cookies

For this recipe you will need the following:

  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ cup pet-friendly peanut butter
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup water

To kick things off with this recipe, you will need to preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. While your oven is heating up, take your flour, peanut butter and eggs and mix them into a large bowl, until slightly combined. After you have done this, you are going to want to add a little bit of water. Approximately 1 tbsp at a time, until the mixture, becomes wet enough to role out as dough. This is the fun part! Rolling the dough! Roll out your dough and cut it into your puppy’s favourite shapes with some cookie cutters. Time to put them in the oven! Place them on a cookie sheet and bake for about 15 minutes. If you want a crunchier treat, you can take them out just as the bottoms start to darken. Always let them cool before giving to your dog. Enjoy!
