Behavioural Counselling

Assisting pet owners in treating the underlying reasons behind their dog's behavioural problems.

It’s incredibly important before acquiring a dog, to understand and know it’s personal breed needs. Every dog has a specific need and drive. As their lifelong companion, your role is to create an environment that successfully meets these needs for the life of your pet. Much anxiety, unwanted behaviour, aggression can be reconditioned or even prevented by understanding your canine’s brain and instinct. Behaviour counselling will provide you with the tools and knowledge required to understand your dog’s behaviour and to help them live mentally and physically stress free lives.

How can dog counsellors help?

Dog counsellors can assess the behaviour and needs of your dog. They can provide you with the tools to create a positive change in behaviour. Remember, dogs mainly communicate through body language. Counsellors can help you understand what your dog is saying and how you can communicate back.

What happens at consultation?

This can vary with each behaviour counsellor/trainer, but to start most will consult with you about your concerns. Then assess the dog’s behaviour to see how they can help you and your dog communicate better to achieve a positive training result.

Will my pet insurance policy cover the cost of consultation?

You will have to check with your specific insurance policy. Some insurance companies for pets do offer coverage for behaviour training.

What to expect after the consultation?

The expectation after consultation is to have a good understanding of what training schedule/regiment will be required to achieve the desired change in your dog’s behaviour.
